If the damage is close enough to the pinnacle of your roof, run the plastic over the top and to the other side, hammering the wood strips along the outside edges as you go.

If you do not have enough wood for your work, you can use staples to tack the sheet metal and the sheet plastic over the damaged area. Whichever you do, you will want to make sure it is tight against the roof. If it blows off in another storm before you have the chance to repair it permanently, it could very well injure someone. The wind is a strong force and you will want to make sure everything issecure and safe on the roof.

Some tips to help during yourroof repair is to use a tool belt to prevent you from having to make so many trips down the roof and the ladder. It is safer. If you are going up there in a storm, use shoes that will not slip. Storms like hurricanes can wreak havoc and being ready is the smart way to make a repair less of an event for everyone involved.
